For this reason, if you have an urge to use a stone for something other than the meanings on our gemstone meaning list, by all means do so. Do not think this list is written in stone (sorry about the pun).
To give you the perfect real life example, I was having an extremely busy week one time and of course my car decided to act up at the same time. I knew I needed a new battery but I just did not have time to stop and get one.
I had recently found a rather nice chunk of rose quartz, commonly known and the stone of love and it had such a wonderful energy I was carrying it around in my pocket for a few days.
While making some deliveries, with a dead line hanging over my head, the car would not start. The only stone I had with me was the rose quartz. I place it on the center of the car dash board, closed my eyes and begged the stone to lend its energies to getting me back on the road.
I stayed in that focused state for about 10 minutes. When I opened my eyes, the poor rose quartz was no longer pink. It was completely white. But I tried the engine and it started right up on the first try.
